For my research project I want to look at Gangster Films, directors and their influences, narrative techniques and styles and visual elements, comparing different ways they are used by different people. These types of films have always been something I have loved and through my research I have already come across some interesting facts that I didn't know before.
The main directors I want to look at are Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Francis Ford Coppola, but also bring in elements from films by such directors as Brian De Palma and Stanley Kubrick.
I have aready come across strong links between these directors and these types of films with the Film Noir genre and also links to the Horror genre. I want to explore the similarities and differences between their techniques and how well they work in comparison.
